The two have been part of Taste of Malawi since fall 2020. Sophie supports the human resources team and Paula is on the fundraising team.

What is your motivation
for joining ToM?

After graduating from school, Paula worked in Malawi. Her stay there inspired her and moved her. She also credits her time in Malawi with giving her the strength to work and contribute to Taste of Malawi from her new adopted country: France.

Sophie joined the project out of curiosity, enthusiasm, and the joy of seeing others becoming more empowered. She became aware of Taste of Malawi explicitly through another off-site team member who has been with the project for a while. Sophie’s work bridges the gap between the HR team and general administrative tasks.

“When I’m not working for ToM, I…”

“…live and breathe for my passion: art.” – Paula
“…learn new things and spend time with the people I care about.” – Sophie

Full-time studies or full-time job and ToM?
Is that possible?

Everything is feasible, said both Sophie and Paula. In the project, but also in their respective HR and fundraising teams, the culture is pleasant and tasks are divided according to how much time each member has at the moment. Paula is absolutely immersed in her studies. Despite her many duties she is still able to flourish in her studies and participate in ToM events. Sophie, who has just graduated, does her best and plans ahead so that she can be passionate and perform her best for ToM.

As for many, the past year has not always been easy for the two of them, but they are happy to have support through Taste of Malawi. It gives you the opportunity to realize your ideas, to work together and to deepen your knowledge.

We are so excited to have another #FacesOfToM interview soon. Are you curious about who’s next? We surely are! If you have any questions for the off-site team, we are always happy to include them in the interviews.
