The premises of Taste of Malawi are in Chinsapo, a suburb of the Malawian capital Lilongwe. Our workshop is situated on a plot of land that Mr Kumcheza, the father of our co-founder Alex, has made available to the project.

There is an office for all the paperwork, a classroom where our students are learning and another room for the workshop, where our products are tailored and is our production centre. Outside there is a park and a small garden, if the weather is good women have lunch there, together as a team and kids can play around. Next to the garden there is a kitchen to prepare the lunch meal we provide and other products if they want. Moreover there is kindergarten for the our employees’ kids, with a small library we would love to make better and a corner where children can do their homework while their parents are working. Health insurance and possibilities for loans are a service for them too.

Since the project has been in existence, the workshop has been continuously expanded and improved to accommodate more tailors and to offer better working conditions work for them as well as for the On-site Team. In Malawi, for example, a stable supply of electricity and internet connection are unfortunately not a matter of course, but are necessary to run sewing machines, lamps and computers. In the next few years, we will hopefully manage to expand the workshop in this respect.
